Comedian James Gregory – The Franklin Theatre – Franklin, TN

For over two decades, the unforgettable caricature of veteran comedian James Gregory has stood grinning: his shirt untucked, his arms outstretched, a carefree welcome to a down-home, hilarious comedy experience. It’s storytelling at its best. The trademark caricature is the essence of James Gregory’s comedy: rib-tickling reflections on life from the front porch.

Actors from around the country converge on Franklin for red carpet premiere

Actors from as far away as New York City and Branson, Mo., converged on downtown Franklin Sunday for the red carpet premiere of the movie Providence at the historic Franklin Theatre.

The festivities began in the afternoon with red carpet photos followed by the first screening. Cast, crew, family, friends, musical artists and industry professionals packed into the theater for the first theatrical screening of the silent cinema-style romance. The screening was followed by red carpet interviews with local media. The evening closed with a second screening and more photos.

“I was very impressed by the film and its unique form of storytelling,” said attendee Johnathan Schutz.  “The amount of emotional subtlety conveyed by both the writing and the acting without the use of sound design or dialogue was excellent, and the production came together well to bring an impactful story about the grand orchestration of God in the microcosm of a couple’s love story.”

Providence is the story of Rachel Cartwright and Mitchell Little, who grow up in the small town of Providence, Tenn. Their paths keep crossing and at one point it looks like they’ll finally get together. But the opportunity slips away and they go their separate ways. It takes a tragedy many years later before they’re reunited.

This romance film is all portrayed with no dialogue, using only dramatic action and a soundtrack of eclectic indie music. It stars Rich Swingle (Beyond the Mask), Juli Tapken (Surrender), Josh Allen (Home Sweet Bus), Stacey Bradshaw (Touched by Grace), Chase Anderson (Where Hope Grows), Emily Knapp (The Good Book), and Irene Santiago (High School Musical).

Providence will be releasing to theaters nationwide on Feb. 12, 2016.
