Rescue Reunion Celebrates Pets

Free admission-bring your dog June 22

Williamson County Animal Center in Franklin presents a Rescue Reunion and Adoption Celebration on Saturday, June 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the shelter, 106 Claude Yates Dr. Bring your dog along (on a leash) and join the tail-waggin’ fun!  

Admission is free, and you can learn about pet behavior from featured speakers certified professional dog trainer Charlotte Blake, with Fresh Canine Training and Project Reward plus certified cat behaviorist and author Pam Johnson-Bennett. Vendors will be on hand with pet products and information, including The Farm at Natchez Trace, Animalia Health & Wellness, Mars Petcare US, Nashville Pet Products Franklin, My Second Home Pet Resort, Cat Shoppe, Invisible Fencing of Middle Tennessee, Doggie Doodles by Dina and 4 Paws Pastries!

For a small donation benefiting New Leash on Life, your dog will have an opportunity to run a special dog lure course. Dirty dogs can get spiffy at the dog wash, and have professional photos made by Penny Adams Photography on site. We will keep the humans happy with cold drinks and tasty homemade baked goods. 

Current adoption specials include two-for-one kittens $10, adult cats $10, dogs $50, puppies $85. 

The Williamson County Animal Center is located at 106 Claude Yates Dr. in Franklin. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Adoptable animals can be viewed at www.adoptwcac.org. Pet of the Week: Mitch (Pictured)

This seven-year-old coonhound will capture your heart with his soulful brown eyes! Mitch loves to explore on long walks or play in the yard. When the weather gets hot, he also enjoys a dip in the doggy pool! This big hearted boy needs a loving family to hang out with. If you would like to meet Mitch and consider being his forever home, come to Williamson County Animal Center for a visit!

Second Annual Dog Show and Expo “Pooch-A-Palooza”

Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) invites local pooches and their humans to join us for the Second Annual Dog Show and Expo “Pooch-A-Palooza” at the Nolensville Bark Park (Nolensville Park Road, near Nolensville Elementary School and Nolensville First United Methodist Church). The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. There is a $10 participation fee for pooches who would like to strut their stuff in a performance of showmanship. There will be several competitions including:

Best Costume: Dress up your pooch in their best outfit and show them off on stage.
Best Trick: Have your best friend show off their coolest trick.
Best Retriever: A staff member will throw a ball or frisbee for your dog to retrieve.

Best Bark: Have your pooch show off their bark.
Prizes will be given in each category.

Participants must provide proof that dog vaccinations are up-to-date upon check-in (Parvovirus, Distemper, Rabies, and Adenovirus). Dogs must be kept on a leash unless it is his or her turn to participate in a competition. Participants must clean up any pet waste and provide them with water.

The event is free for spectators. Williamson County Animal Center will be on hand with some adoptable dogs, and other vendors will be on site as well. Event sponsors are Camp Bow Wow of Smyrna and My Second Home in Franklin.

Dogs and Dogwoods

Cheekwood is going to the dogs! Bring your pooch out for a special dog-friendly day in the gardens. All leashed dogs are welcome.

Have your photo taken with your dog at the photo booth from 11am – 3pm, located at the Carell Dogwood Garden.

Cheekwood will also be accepting supply donations for the Nashville Humane Association‘s wish list. Don’t forget to bring your items for donation!
