Singers wanted for new chorus group
Franklin, TN – The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) is pleased to announce the formation of a new Williamson County Community Chorus. Laurie Kamunen, Program Administrator for WCPR, said the new chorus is forming in response to community interest. “We have had many inquiries about forming a community chorus, and we are excited to be able to start this new program.”
Kamunen stated that the chorus will be open to all, and will be multi-generational. “Anyone 18 or older who has a desire to sing and perform is invited to join. With all the talented people in Williamson County, this should be an outstanding group!” Kamunen stated that the chorus will perform at concerts, community events and other venues.
The first rehearsal of the Williamson County Community Chorus will be announced soon, and anyone interested in joining should contact Janey Mason with Williamson County Parks and Recreation at (615) 302-0971, ext. 2216 or janeym@williamson-tn.org.

The Battle of Franklin Trust will host its annual Sunset Concert Series this Sunday, June 25 at Carnton. The Sunset Concert Series is a family-friendly, summer tradition providing outdoor concerts on the east lawn of Carnton. This week’s musical act is Music City Stones: A Rolling Stones Tribute.
Event gates open at 5 p.m. and concerts take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests may bring chairs, blankets and picnics. Food and beverage, including alcohol, is permitted. Food trucks and a drink tent with beer, wine and mint juleps will also be onsite. Pets, tents and grills are not allowed. Parking is free and available on- site. Tickets purchased in advance are $5 for children ages 6-15, $10 for adults. Tickets are also available at the gate for $12. Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at Carnton or The Carter House, as well as online at www.boft.org.

Franklin— Come to The Park at Harlinsdale Farm for the 10th Annual Franklin Parks’ Family Day on November 5. Family Day is a free festival open to the public, and will take place from 10 AM – 2 PM at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, located at 239 Franklin Road, across the street from The Factory in Historic Franklin.
Franklin Parks’ Family Day offers many opportunities for families to have a great time on this historical farm. The festival features activities like miniature train rides, hay rides, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Festival attendees can also enjoy cane pole fishing in the pond. There will be inflatables, a photo booth, face painting and other farm themed photo opportunities, crafts and games. Artists Kelsey K and Hickory Rose will be performing live! All rides and activities are free to attendees.
Safe Harbor Equine & Livestock Sanctuary will be doing roping and riding demonstrations at the TSC Arena. Safe Harbor will also be doing horse mane and tail braiding demonstrations, hosting corn hole and calf roping games for prizes, and raffles. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet foster horses, sponsor a foster or sanctuary horse, and have a photo opportunity with a “unicorn.”
Food will be offered for purchase by local food vendors including Itty Bitty Donuts, Hoss’ Loaded Burger, Buns on the Run, and more.
Following Family Day, there will be a grand opening event at the new K-9 Korral Dog Park at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm. The ribbon cutting will take place at 2:15 PM, with activities happening at the dog park location throughout the Family Day event.
Many local businesses are sponsoring the event including Friends of Franklin Parks, Tractor Supply Company, K-Love, Get Fit Franklin, The Goddard School – Franklin (Cool Springs), and Dreams Do Come True Princess Parties.
The 10th Annual Family Day Celebration is presented by the City of Franklin Parks Department. The City of Franklin Parks is committed to promoting the love of nature and provide opportunities for enjoyment of the parks in Franklin. Pilgrimage is a multi-genre music festival featuring some of today’s hottest local and national touring artists, many performing acoustically, in the rustic setting of Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN. Have your children join us for a show and tell of several Civil War era musical instruments, along with examples of the songs the soldiers would sing in battle and camp. After crafting their own drum, the children will be able to drum along to camp and field favorites and walk Franklin’s battlefield. This class is for children ages 5-12.
