Botanical Watercolors at Cheekwood
Explore the historic techniques used by artists who portrayed, in accurate detail, the flora and fauna of our world. Learn to capture the intricate details of nature through pencil under-drawings, dry brush watercolor techniques and color mixing. Spend the day at Cheekwood touring the gardens and learning botanical watercolor techniques. Cheekwood is going to the dogs! Bring your pooch out for a special dog-friendly day in the gardens. All leashed dogs are welcome. Have your photo taken with your dog at the photo booth from 11am – 3pm, located at the Carell Dogwood Garden. Cheekwood will also be accepting supply donations for the Nashville Humane Association's wish list. Don't forget to bring your items for donation! Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
Cheekwood is hosting a viewing party for the solar eclipse set to sweep the nation on Monday, August 21. The rare natural phenomenon is the first total solar eclipse to hit the U.S. in 99 years, with Nashville serving as the largest U.S. city in its path. Typically closed to the public on Mondays, Cheekwood will open its doors with half-priced admission from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., which will feature live music, food trucks, cash bars and protective eyewear for the viewing.
