DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe Great Americana Barbecue Festival in Franklin\, TN!\n\n\n\n\nOn August 27th\, 2016 the air in Franklin\, Tennessee will be filled with the sweet aroma of hickory smoke and simmering sauce for the inaugural ‘Great Americana Barbecue Festival’ at Harlinsdale Farm. Visitors will enjoy some of the most “finger licking good” barbecue around\, prepared by professional pit masters and iron chefs from across the country – all within the town limits of Franklin\, TN – “the best small town in America” –  according to Southern Living and Trip Advisor. \nThe BBQ festival is hosted by The Franklin BBQ Society and The Franklin Noon Rotary Club (FNRC). The FNRC has dedicated over six decades of service to its community and has distributed over two million dollars to local charities. FNRC continues to produce The Franklin Rodeo\, Williamson County’s longest running annual event\, celebrating its 67th year. \nBarbecue will take center stage with vendors\, grilling demonstrations\, a whole hog smoking contest\, and a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned barbecue competition\, featuring 60 teams competing in five categories for over $8\,000 in total cash prizes. Festival goers will be able to join in on the judging by selecting the “People’s Champion”. \nPatrons will enjoy local artisan flavors from Tennessee distilleries and craft beers (21+). Additionally\, the festival will feature live music\, craft vendors\, a variety of food vendors and a kid’s zone with Touch A Truck and all sorts of ways for the little ‘pit masters’ to run\, jump and play. \nThe music stage will feature some of the biggest and brightest young talent Music City has to offer. Arrive early to stake out the perfect picnic spot\, meet Owl’s Hill’s non-releasable live owls and go for a hike! Gates open at 5:30 pm for picnics\, hikes and meeting the owls; Music starts at 7:00 pm \nPlease visit Owl’s Hill for the full schedule and to register. \nJune 18 – Jerre Haskew \nJerre Haskew was a founding member of the legendary folk group The Cumberland Trio during the Folk Era of the early 1960’s. The Cumberland Trio recorded in 1964 with Chet Atkins at RCA Nashville’s famed Studio B and in New York City at the renowned Gotham Studios.  In 2000 he reunited The Cumberland trio for two successful reunion concerts at the historic Bijou Theatre in Knoxville\, TN which were recorded and released on CD\, as well as remastering to CD and releasing the Trio’s 1964 RCA Nashville and NY City recordings. From 2007-2015 he worked on a Haskew family music project that culminated in the release of Songs From the Fiery Gizzard- The Music of the Haskew Family. The album features 23 songs written by Jerre and his wife Barbara over a fifty year period and sung by them\, their daughter Holly and their granddaughter Sarah. The album was recently named 2015 National Folk CD of the Year by the Rural Roots Music Commission. Jerre continues to perform his own original songs and selective audience favorites throughout East & Middle TN\, Northwest GA & at folk festivals around the nation. \nJuly 30 – Teresa \nAugust 27 – Musical Theater in the Meadow \nMusical Theater in the Meadow is back\, offered by a gathering of Nashville’s finest theatrical performers and supported by a fantastic band.  This year’s performance is still being finalized.  Check back soon for more details! \nSeptember 24 – Jazz in the Meadow with Christina Watson \nChristina Watson is a versatile vocalist and vocal coach based in Nashville\, Tennessee. She is highly-trained and performs all genres\, but she has always been enamored by America’s only true art form: jazz. She brings her quartet of world-class musicians to events in Nashville and beyond.  She performs jazz and other genres at public and private events\, in concert halls\, churches\, clubs and at festivals. Christina sings lead and background vocals for sessions. She is the soprano in 4-person vocal jazz group\, 3rd Coast Vocals\, and is a frequent guest performer with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra and the NJO Sextet. Christina has released 3 CDs as a solo artist and 1 with 3CV\, and she was featured on the NJO’s 2013 recording\, “It Ain’t Necessarily So.” She has performed in Europe and Asia as well as in various parts of the US. \n\n
