Franklin Wine Festival

| No Comments

There are four primary components to this fall’s wine festival:

KING & QUEEN OF THE VINES

With all the exciting components going on at the Franklin Wine Festival Grand Tasting: wine, food, live music, an auction, and simply great people… it’s like we’re a city unto ourselves. So we needed a King and Queen!

Enthusiastic supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters conduct personal fundraising campaigns on behalf of the children’s charity beginning in later summer. All donations are tallied on site at the event, and it’s quite simple, the man with the highest fundraising total is crowned King, and the women bringing in the most donations is proclaimed Queen.
The King and Queen candidates hold many different smaller events as part of their fundraising… everything from a Fashion Show and Private Sale to private dinners and crazy personal quests. Why not throw your own tiara in the ring and join us?

Jazzmania 2015 is the Jazz Party of the Year and will feature fine food from Sargent’s Fine Catering and complimentary wine, beer, and signature cocktail courtesy of Lipman Brothers.

Music this year will be provided by a special 10-piece all-star ensemble of some of the NJW’s finest jazz faculty and performing artists. A distinctive feature of our silent auction is Small Works – a collection of small canvases with paintings by some of the area’s top artists, produced especially for this event. Guests will enjoy browsing the works and placing bids on their top picks in fun competition with other patrons – the ultimate proceeds going entirely to benefit the mission of the Workshop.

The Honorary Event Chairperson for Jazzmania this year is Beegie Adair, one of the best-known and most revered figures on the city’s jazz scene for over 40 years. Beegie’s music is heard and loved around the country and around the world. Jazz fans come from across the country to attend her monthly performances in the Jazz Cave! Beegie also holds a place of honor in the Nashville Jazz Workshop’s history — she was one of the first Board members and taught some of our first vocal classes. She was also the first recipient of the NJW Heritage Award, in 2008. We are excited to celebrate Beegie and her jazz legacy.

All proceeds from Jazzmania go to support the operation of the Jazz Workshop, including classes, performances, and community outreach activities for youth, seniors, and the entire community.

What is “I Cared for One?”

“I Cared for One” October, 17, 2015 is the annual fall fundraising event for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes. It is a business casual event featuring dinner, auction, activities and entertainment.

Purpose of “I Cared for One” Fall Fundraising Event

The purpose of this event is multifaceted.  First is to raise the awareness of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes and its ministries to children. Second is to raise funds for the current IMPACT Campaign.  The IMPACT Campaign seeks to raise 5.2 Million Dollars over a three year period.  We have currently raised 2 million dollars, in gift and commitments, toward that goal.  The items to be funded through the IMPACT Campaign are as follows;

DENISE AND GEORGE SHINN FOSTER CARE PROGRAM – $2,430,725 –  Funding (three years) for dedicated staff to identify, screen, train, certify, and support families to receive children in the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services system for foster care. These dollars provide foster care staff for each of our three regions: (West [2], Middle [2], and East [3] Tennessee).CHILDREN’S EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE – $394,000 Tennessee school systems are moving to a BYOT (bring your own technology) position. To ensure that the children in residential care are equipped for success in school, funds are needed for a laptop computer for each TBCH child in school and to fund an IT staff position to oversee the residents’ technology needs.

RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE $1,500,000. TBCH is now at the point where there is a need for renovations and improvement of structures statewide. Funds for these needs will be distributed based on the most critical need.

LONG-TERM FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE – $835,500 To sustain current and new initiatives, TBCH must continue to be intentional, savvy, and creative in developing and cultivating funding sources to fully support its ongoing ministries.
