The favorite eatery by McConnell Hospitality Group opens just south of its Franklin, TN and Brentwood locations

NASHVILLE, TN – Spring Hill residents have just hit the restaurant jackpot. 55 South, Downtown Franklin, TN’s popular eatery that opened a second location in Brentwood last summer, will open its third restaurant at 2086 Wall St. on Tuesday, March 20.

“55 South has already made a home in both Franklin and Brentwood, TN, and we’re thrilled to bring another dining option to the Spring Hill community,” said Sharon Davis, director of operations and development at McConnell Hospitality Group. “For diners who haven’t tried 55 South, we are excited to introduce our menu and atmosphere. For those who are already fans of our Franklin and Brentwood locations, we’re happy to offer favorite dishes closer to home.”

Chef Jason McConnell offers fare that is often found along the stretch of Interstate 55 that runs all the way from Memphis to New Orleans, also known as 55 South. The highly anticipated restaurant will be neighbored by Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint (opening later this month) and a soon-to-be announced fast-casual concept by McConnell that will specialize in tacos, tortas and margaritas. The restaurant “campus” will share outdoor dining space, including a beer garden that links all three restaurants. Brunch will also be offered following the initial opening, including a limited menu of breakfast staples, along with the regular lunch and dinner menus. Drink specials will be available with the launch of brunch, such as a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, along with two- for-one mimosas.

55 South is owned by Jason McConnell, who is also the executive chef and owner of McConnell Hospitality Group. This restaurant continues McConnell’s partnership with Fresh Hospitality, whose other partnerships include Biscuit Love, The Grilled Cheeserie and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. The neighboring restaurants will add to the ever-growing community, and the connectivity of the concepts offers diners restaurant options that were not previously available in Spring Hill.

The Spring Hill 55 South features 3,500-square-feet with 106 seats inside and 35 seats outside. The restaurant boasts a beautiful bar with a large bourbon selection and happy hour offerings Mon. – Fri. from 3 – 6 p.m.

55 South is open Mon. – Thurs. from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Fri. from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Sat. from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sun. From 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Brunch will be available on Sat. and Sun. from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Resilient Health & Performance in Brentwood and CrossFit Cool Springs

Resilient Health & Performance in Brentwood and CrossFit Cool Springs joined forces to support local children with special needs and their families.  High Reps for High Hopes was a carnival-style fitness competition held on Saturday, August 27th at CrossFit Cool benefiting High Hopes Development Center, a 32-year, local non-profit offering an inclusive preschool environment for children with and without special needs, as well as an on-site pediatric therapy clinic providing physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapies to children from birth to age 21.

CrossFit Cool Springs is a fitness community and Resilient Health & Performance is both a fitness community as well as an injury rehab facility.  Fitness competitions are nothing new for local athletes, but the idea of High Reps for High Hopes is the first of its kind by these fitness collaborators.  The inspiration drew from a group of CrossFit friends which happened to include a local firefighter and preschool teacher couple who have a child with special needs.  The two local fitness business owners and various athletes united to host this one-of-a-kind charity competition to couple the heart health benefits of fitness with the heart health benefits of giving back to the community.  Local Williamson County School student-athletes also came out to support the effort by volunteering at some of the booths.

So, what is a carnival-style fitness competition?  Contestants purchased “carnival tickets” to compete in various CrossFit competitions such as max pull-ups in two minutes or a mini-triathlon including one minute on the stationary bike, skier, and rower where the most calories burned secured the prize!  Kids competed as well with challenges like seeing who could hang onto a bar the longest.  Event divisions included men, women, masters and kids, so everyone was able participate.  Those that were not CrossFit competitors were still able to win one of the raffles for great items including fitness gear & apparel, lifting weights, a Fleet Feet gift package and MORE!

This family friendly charity event also had the usual carnival tastes of popcorn and cotton candy, as well as the fun environment where all could “step right up” and compete to “win a prize”.  The big winners though, were the children and families of High Hopes Development CenterHigh Reps for High Hopes raised over $8,000.00 at the event, and through a charitable matching grant, that amount will be doubled totaling $16,000.00.

High Hopes Development Center is a 32-year non-profit organization that loves, nurtures, and educates children with two integrated programs helping each child reach their maximum potential.  Children ages 6 weeks to Pre-K, with and without special needs, are educated together in inclusive preschool classrooms by a team of experienced teachers supporting the individual needs of each child.   High Hopes is the only inclusive preschool in Williamson County with an on-site pediatric therapy clinic, allowing children to receive therapy services during their preschool day. High Hopes is truly unique in the way that children with and without special needs such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other developmental delays play, learn, and grow together every day. The outpatient pediatric therapy clinic provides children from birth to 21 years multiple therapies in one location: occupational, speech, physical, and feeding therapies. High Hopes gives children of all intellectual, physical and mental abilities the opportunity to learn and grow together in an environment that provides a strong foundation for future academic and social success.

QUORUM HEALTH CORP.

Southeast Venture announced that Quorum Health Corp. has signed a long-term lease for a 40,000-square-foot building that the commercial real estate firm is developing in Mallory Park, an office park near Cool Springs Galleria in Brentwood. The newly leased building is one of two 40,000-square-foot buildings Southeast Venture is developing on a 12.5-acre lot on Mallory Lane known as Dimension at Mallory Park Phase I. The two buildings will surround a courtyard, giving the project a “campus feel.” Southeast Venture is the architect for the building and the firm will also provide interior design services to guide the build-out of the premises for Quorum. Southeast Venture’s leasing team, Michael Finucane and J.C. Darby, represented their company in the lease transaction and Bo Tyler and Tom Hooper of JLL represented the tenant. T.W. Frierson Contractor is the builder for the project.

Quorum Health Corp.’s new headquarters will be the first building constructed in Phase II of Mallory Park, a 33.5-acre parcel north of the original office park that was rezoned for commercial use in 2010. Southeast Venture is the developer of Mallory Park and will continue to own the building with its investors.

“We are very pleased that Quorum Health Corp. has elected to keep its headquarters in Brentwood. Mallory Park will be a great new home for the company, especially with the new Flagpole Park within walking distance,” said Brentwood Mayor Regina Smithson.

“In order to meet Quorum’s timeline, we plan to begin tenant construction on October 15 and have the building ready for occupancy by early next year,” said Southeast Venture Principal Cam Sorenson. “We are prepared to meet this aggressive deadline: the concrete slab is already poured, utilities are already being installed and walls began going up last week. The type of structure we are building – which is similar to a two- office complex we developed in MetroCenter for HealthSpring – goes up quickly.”

“Quorum will occupy 50 percent of the total space available at Mallory Park,” said Finucane. “We’ve had a lot of activity and are looking forward to filling the remaining 40,000 square feet soon.”
