Williamson County Community Band, Free Patriotic Concert & Fireworks

The Williamson County Community Band will kick-off 4th of July celebrations with a free concert showcasing favorite Americana melodies. Come join the fun at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, 1949 Old Hickory Blvd., in Brentwood, TN on Sunday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. Free ice cream and a fireworks show will conclude the evening’s festivities. YOUTH GOLF CLINIC AND CAMP

Registration is open for Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s for a Spring Golf Clinic for youth ages 5-12. The golf clinic will be taught by Jim Kite, a PGA Instructional Professional. A resident of Nolensville, Kite has taught at the Rick McCord Golf Academy in Orlando and the Apple Valley Country Club.

Online registration continues through Feb. 28 or until full. The clinic dates will be Friday, March 8, 15 and 29 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Indoor Arena at Crockett Park in Brentwood, TN. Registration is ongoing for Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s two Clinics to be held on Wednesdays, March 6 – April 10 at the Indoor Arena at Crockett Park, 1485 Volunteer Pkwy. in Brentwood. The clinic for ages 2 and 3 will meet from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (#13191), and the clinic for ages 4 and 5 will meet from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (#13192). A parent must be present during class. Each child should bring their own size 3 soccer ball to class.

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s Athletics Division will host the 23^rd annual Big Harpeth Classic Tennis Tournament June 8-10, 2017. On-line registration is underway now, and events will be offered for men’s and women’s sanctioned singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Players must be USTA members to participate.

Registration is $35 for first Singles, $23 for first Doubles, $23 for additional Doubles. Maximum fee charged per player is $52 plus the processing fees for the number of events selected at tennislink.usta.com. Use keywords “Big Harpeth Classic” or tournament ID# 704233718. Brentwood, Tennessee – Brentwood Country Club hosts the 15^th annual Giving on the Green golf tournament on Monday, May 21^st, 2018 benefiting High Hopes Development Center, with a noon shotgun start.

The luscious greens and fairways of the Brentwood Country Club will fill with golfers on May 21^st to support the mission of High Hopes Development Center to equip children, youth, and their families with the skills necessary to achieve success through education, therapeutic services, and loving support. Indoor Arena at Crockett Park

The Athletics Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces registration through November 27 (or until full) for boys winter indoor soccer leagues (ages 7 to 14) playing at the Indoor Arena at Crockett Park, 1485 Volunteer Parkway, in Brentwood, TN. Registration is online at www.wcparksandrec.com. Players will be grouped according to their age U8 (born in 2010 or 2011, #9925); U10 (born in 2008 or 2009, #9926); U12 (born in 2006 or 2007, #9927); U14 (born in 2004 or 2005, #9928), and the registration fee is $55-$60. There will be mandatory evaluation days for each league (players should come dressed and ready to play), followed immediately the draft.

Franklin’s favorite eatery by McConnell Hospitality Group opens second location in Brentwood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Brentwood residents who travel south for their favorite eateries can now stay closer to home. 55 South, a concept by the McConnell Hospitality Group, has opened its second location at 7031 Executive Center Dr. in the heart of Brentwood, TN.

“55 South has become such a neighborhood staple in Franklin, and we are excited to create a new home in Brentwood,” said Sharon Davis, director of operations and development at McConnell Hospitality Group. “Our Brentwood location offers a lunch and dinner menu almost identical to Franklin, and we look forward to getting to know the Brentwood community.”

The menu offers fare that is often found along the stretch of Interstate 55 that runs all the way from Memphis to New Orleans, also known as 55 South. Chef Jason McConnell brings his favorite flavors off the road and to the menu, including items such as char-grilled and fried oysters, loaded fries, seafood and sandwiches. Brunch is also offered, including a limited menu of breakfast staples, along with the regular lunch and dinner menus. Drink specials are available, such as a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, along with two-for-one mimosas.

The restaurant is owned by Jason McConnell, who is also the executive chef and owner of McConnell Hospitality Group. This is the first restaurant in a newly formed partnership with Fresh Hospitality, which owns and operates concepts such as Juice Bar, The Grilled Cheeserie and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. McConnell is the sole owner of all Franklin properties.

The Brentwood 55 South, which opened on July 24 features 4,000-square-feet and 150 seats. The restaurant also boasts an oversized bar and beverage program unlike anything currently available in the Brentwood neighborhood. 55 South is open Mon. – Thurs. from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Fri. from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Sat. from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sun. From 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Brunch is available on Sat. and Sun. from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
