A Vintage Affair’s 17th annual Main Event will be held on Friday, April 21st in Liberty Hall at The Factory at Franklin.

The evening will feature an array of local food, wine, and bourbon tastings, along with silent and live auctions throughout the event. ‘Walk With the Mayor’ set March 29 as part of Healthier Tennessee WeekWalk With the Mayor release

Franklin Mayor Ken Moore is encouraging the community to focus on fitness March 27-31 and will proclaim it “Healthier Tennessee Week” in Franklin.

To mark the occasion, Mayor Moore will lead a “Walk With the Mayor” on Wednesday, March 29, at 11:30 a.m. through downtown Franklin, ending at the I Love Juice Bar, 232 Fifth Ave. N., and Pedego Electric Bikes, right next door at 234 Fifth Ave. N.

The loop will be on sidewalks in downtown and be about one mile in length and should take 30-40 minutes since we will walk as a group.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The City of Franklin will hold two open house style meetings, on February 27, 2017, for the Harpeth Riverfront.  The Riverfront Planning Study will help identify the challenges, opportunities, and perspectives associated with a potential river walk and potential future development within the floodplain between Pinkerton Park and Bicentennial Park. The schedule is as follows:

LOCATION:                City Hall, 109 3rd Avenue South, Franklin, TN, Open house will be held in the hallways

The purpose of these sessions will be to solicit and collect opinion, feedback, and suggestions from the general public regarding their desired vision for downtown Franklin along the Harpeth River.

BGA Fisk Jubilee Singers Concert

As part of its celebration of Black History Month, Battle Ground Academy is hosting a concert featuring the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers. The concert, which is free and open to the community, will be held on Friday, February 24 at 6 p.m., at the Franklin United Methodist Church.

“We strive to offer programs that enhance the lives of our students, parents, alumni and the broader community whom we serve” said BGA Head of School Will Kesler. “One of the real highlights this year will be this community event featuring the Fisk Jubilee Singers. We are proud to be able to bring these incredible artists to Williamson County.”

The concert will be held in the sanctuary of the new Franklin United Methodist Church campus. The church is located on Mack Hatcher Bypass directly across the street from BGA’s Glen Echo campus. Register for the event at http://battlegroundacademy.org/page/fisk-jubilee-singers

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are vocal artists and students of Fisk University, a Historically Black College in Nashville. Acclaimed worldwide, they are credited with introducing and preserving the musical tradition of “slave songs” and have contributed to the breakdown of racial barriers in the U.S. and abroad. In 2008, the Fisk Jubilee Singers were awarded a National Medal of Arts by President George Bush in recognition of their longtime contribution to the arts.

‘Love is in the Air’ at Williamson County Animal Center!  We are celebrating February, the month of love, with a fun public event on Saturday, February 11. Enjoy free puppy kisses, a free cup of coffee and decorate a free pupcake for your pet! The event is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is sponsored by Three Dog Bakery of Franklin.

All adoptions of adult dogs, cats, and kittens are $14 on Saturday only!  The shelter has a full house of lovable pets just waiting for their forever homes! You can view adoptable animals at www.petfinder.com.  

Williamson County Animal Center is located at 106 Claude Yates Dr. in Franklin. The shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 4:00 p.m. Deposits may be required for pets not already spayed or neutered, and the puppy adoption fee is $85. Jan. 9 FrankTalks to focus on ‘Creating Community Dialogue’

Franklin is a community known for its opportunities. And as we reflect back on 2016, we want to take hold of a new opportunity – an opportunity to engage all of Franklin’s citizens. 

We invite you to join us for our Jan. 9 FrankTalks lecture in a discussion focused on how we interact and engage with each other in our community. The program will be held at the Williamson County Public Library, 1314 Columbia Ave., Franklin, TN, starting with a coffee social at 9 a.m., followed by the program at 9:30 a.m.
Lipscomb University President Randy Lowry will kick off our first FrankTalks of 2017 to cover this ever expanding topic. We hope you’ll join us and bring a friend, as we invite everyone to find a seat at the table.

FrankTalks is held monthly on the second Monday of the month and is presented in partnership with Vanderbilt University’s Office of Community, Neighborhood and Government Relations.

Franklin Tomorrow’s 10th annual Exemplary Community Volunteer Awards recognize the “Stars of Our Community” for the good works they do for area nonprofits and organizations.

Awards are given in the categories of Volunteer Spirit, Youth Initiative, Civic Group, Corporate Team, Corporate Individual, with top award of the night being the Anne T. Rutherford Exemplary Community Volunteer Award.

Franklin Tomorrow also presents the Business Legacy Award to honor an individual or individuals who have made a deep impact on our community through their philanthropy.

Ticketholders are invited to attend a pre-event reception at FirstBank at Five Points in downtown Franklin, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The reception will end at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony at the Theatre at 7 p.m.
