Kadillacs and Fireworks to Light Up Brentwood’s 4th

The City of Brentwood is sponsoring its twenty-eighth Independence Day Celebration. The event will be held at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater in Crockett Park from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Paul Ross and the “The Kadillacs”. Admission is free to the community. The sponsors are H.G. Hill Realty Company, LLC and the City of Brentwood.

Parking is limited in Crockett Park. The community is encouraged to park at the Library or River Park and use the bikeway. Residents that live in nearby subdivisions are asked to walk or ride bikes to the park.

At 8:45 pm, to help with traffic control:

The following streets will be designated as one-way traffic:

  • Crockett Road from the park to Wilson Pike,
  • Wilson Pike from Crockett Road to Moores Lane
  • Wilson Pike from Crockett Road to Concord Road

The following streets will be closed to traffic in the direction listed below:

  • Wilson Pike at Concord Road closed to south bound traffic
  • Wilson Pike at Moores Lane closed to north bound traffic
  • Crockett Road at Volunteer Parkway closed to east bound traffic

Entry into Crockett Park by car will stop at 8:30 pm.

The festival is planned as a family affair with music, dancing, and fireworks for everyone. The City of Brentwood invites you to bring your picnic baskets and join us in celebrating our Country’s birthday!

Fireworks Policy – If at all possible, Brentwood will have the fireworks display. If there is lightning, strong winds or continuous rain between 7:00 – 9:00, the fireworks will be postponed to July 5th at 9:00.

Concert Cancellation Policy – the concert will be performed rain or shine. Lightning in the area is the only reason the concert will be cancelled. No rain date for the concert.

For the ninth year, the Fabulous Friends for Africa will host a Valentine’s Party to raise money for African Leadership, a local organization committed to developing projects and programs that meet the needs of Africans. 

What:  Fabulous Friends for Africa Valentine’s Party

When:  Saturday, February 13, from 7 to 11 p.m.

Where:  Liberty Hall, The Factory in Franklin, 230 Franklin Road

Benefits:  African Leadership (AL) a local organization committed to providing church leaders with theological education and come along side these leaders as they work to impact their local communities across the continent. 

Cost: Host a reserved table for ten for $750 or buy individual tickets for open seating at $75 in advance…$100 at the door.  Register at www.fabulousfriendsforafrica.org  Cost includes Italian buffet dinner, silent auction and dancing to the music of 12 South Band. 

What to know:  Started by a group of women turning 50 who wanted to raise money for the needy in Africa instead of hosting a birthday celebration for themselves.  In its ninth year, the women who call themselves Fabulous Friends for Africa have raised more than $500,000 to support 100 orphans in Lizulu, Malawi and purchase study Bibles for the AL training programs throughout Africa. This year, proceeds raised through the party will benefit women and children across Africa who have been through traumatic experiences, either by war or in the sex slave industry.

Feed America First raises funds for one million meals at ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Feed America First, a non-profit that aims to end hunger in America, met its goal to raise funds to provide enough food for one million meals through the annual Dancing with the Nashville Stars competition Thursday evening at The Factory in Franklin.

The event featured seven local celebrities who teamed up with professional dancers from the National Dance Club for the competition. Eric Martino, Director of Operations for M Street Entertainment Group took home the mirrored ball trophy for raising the most funds through online voting, table sales and sponsorships. The funds will provide meals for local families in need.

Armando Aguilera, doctor at Tennessee Center for Oral, Facial and Implant Surgery, took home the award for Technical Merit.

Contestants included Samantha Singer of FOX 17; Kim Helper is Williamson County District Attorney General; Dr. Gloria L. Bonner of Middle Tennessee State University; Dr. Anna Settle, a psychologist and local media contributor; and James Festervand Assistant Principal of Blackman Elementary/Middle School.

Feed America First supplies food to more than 170 partner agencies across the Middle Tennessee region, allowing them to feed 30,000 families every month. Factory at Franklin site of fundraiser for Nashville Jazz Workshop

Jazzmania, a major fundraiser for the Nashville Jazz Workshop, was held Oct. 24 at The Factory of Franklin in Liberty Hall, with proceeds raised to support the operation of the workshop. It includes classes, performances, and community outreach activities for youth, seniors and the entire community.

The honorary event chairperson for Jazzmania this year was Nashville pianist Beegie Adair, and trumpet soloist Rod McGaha was announced as the 2015 Heritage Award recipient. Guests enjoyed dinner catered by Sargent’s Fine Dining, a silent action and fabulous jazz music for entertainment and dancing. Two talented JazzCamp students dazzled the crowd, performing with the band.
