Comedian/writer/animal activist Elayne Boosler is best known for her thoughtful and feisty humor, and her love of baseball and animals, all sharing a big part of her act.
For forty years, she has appeared on seemingly every talk show ever on TV, has written and starred in five one-hour Showtime standup comedy specials, written and directed two movies for Cinemax, appeared on Comic Relief for years, on Politically Incorrect over thirty times, and has hosted specials, series, and events. She has done lots of baseball color commentary, and sung the National Anthem and/or thrown out a first pitch, many times for many teams.

Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) is pleased to announce the Kids’ CreArtivity Crawl on Friday, May 6 during the Franklin Art Scene. Kids ages 4 and older can have fun in special art classes at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. while their parents attend the monthly Art Scene event in downtown Franklin.
For the younger set, ages 4 to 7, Shelly Egly will present ‘Creepy Crawly Art’ where kids get messy making their own insect inspired creepy crawly masterpieces using paint and model magic. Creepy Crawly Art is 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The class fee is $30 per child, plus a $5 supply fee payable to the instructor. Please bring a peanut free snack to class. Older kids, ages 8+, will have a ‘Kids’ Scrawl’ with instructor Amy Stielstra. The evening includes art games and cartooning with markers, drawing animals, aliens and animation characters. Then, to complete their art portfolio, students will create a painting using oil pastels, watercolors or tempera paints. The class is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the fee is $30 per child, with a $5 supply fee payable to the instructor. Kids should wear old clothes and bring a peanut free snack. The event is expected to attract some 125,000 visitors to a full slate of family-oriented activities, non-stop musical entertainment and international flavors of more than 20 food vendors.
The centerpiece of Main Street Festival is a juried arts and crafts show featuring some 200 vendors with original and hand crafted wares. Oil and watercolor paintings, pottery, jewelry, furniture, woodworking, ornamental iron, stained glass, photography, home and garden accents, birdhouses, leatherwork, and much more will be showcased on Main Street from First to Fifth Avenues.
In addition to a juried arts and crafts show, the festival offers a special area of children’s activities on Third Avenue South between City Hall and the Old Courthouse.

This party for a purpose continues to give all wine lovers, from a boxed wine enthusiast to a fine wine aficionado, the opportunity to taste different varieties of wine while benefiting a great cause: The Old Old Jail, or as it will soon be known, The Big House for Historic Preservation.
Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door, plus 3 bottles of wine of your choosing. Admission includes entertainment, food from your favorite local restaurants and chefs, and a cleansing bottle of water. The extremely popular Silent Auction will be back this year, as will the cash bar for beer lovers.
Check in begins at 6:00 p.m. and will go until 7:30 p.m. at which time no more wine will be accepted. Teams of 1 to 3 people will bring 3 bottles of wine of their choosing. Two bottles will be collected, disguised, and set out for tasting and voting. The third bottle is set aside unopened to be given to two Grand Prize Winners.
From 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. tasting and voting will takes place. Grab a few different bottles and take them back to your table. Taste and make notes on the space provided in your program and then pass the bottles along to the next table so everyone has the chance to enjoy!
We are excited to announce that this year’s silent auction will be going mobile! You will be able to bid on items from the comfort of your own seat or even the dance floor using your smart phone! The silent auction takes place from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and the bid winners are announced at 9:30 p.m. along with the two Grand Prize winners – each splitting the vault of all the unopened third bottles. You could go home with hundreds of bottles of wine!
