Applications are still being accepted for the 2015 Young Scholars Institute. Week One is closed; however, Week 2 has a few more class options and we are sure you will find classes that will both challenge and entertain your children!
Sponsored by the FSSD, YSI offers challenging, exploratory classes which are designed for independent and highly motivated learners. The courses are academically and artistically challenging. YSI is designed for the mature, independent student who is ready to change classes. We are proud to provide this opportunity to the students of our community.
YSI is located at two separate sites. Franklin Elementary hosts the Junior Scholars program, which serves students who have completed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades (ages 7-10). Senior Scholars serves students who have completed the 5th grade and above (ages 11-14), and is held at Poplar Grove.
Visit Young Scholars Institute for course descriptions and registration materials.

After nearly 150 years, a Civil War-era style of baseball will once again be played in Tennessee. Vintage base ball (yes, it was two words in the 1860s) was revived in the Mid-South when the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball was formed in 2013. Carnton Plantation is pleased to be the home field for the Franklin Farriers. The base ball games are free to the public.
