Seriously Seersucker

So what is a Seersucker Party?

What beyond the obvious of pulling out your seersucker to swank around? Like New Orleans, where seersucker suits, cocktails and seersucker parties were all first invented, it’s an occasion to have fun — music, dance, food, cocktails.

For some, it’s an opportunity to wear beloved seersucker one more time this season. For others, it’s an excuse to finally fill in that missing gap in your wardrobe — to be daring and Southern, no matter whence you hail.

Kentucky may have invented bourbon, and Tennessee perfected whiskey, but New Orleans gave us the cocktail. The only rule is that you wear seersucker. Show us what seersucker means to you.

Seriously, step up and step out. Be daring and Southern.

COAST TO COAST BLUES NIGHT

Mark Hummel, Charlie Baty and Anson Funderburgh Golden State Lone Star Revue. Sponsored by the Nashville Blues Society, this exciting double bill is a union of blues greats from across the country.

GOLDEN STATE LONE STAR REVUE

This new supergroup boasts harmonica legend Mark Hummel, Texas blues guitar hero Anson Funderburgh (Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets) and West Coast jump blues guitar virtuoso Charlie Batey (Little Charlie & the Nightcats), playing a blend of original songs and classics that set a high bar for musical excitement. Their collective name reflects this history-making union of outstanding veteran blues artists from the Lone Star State and California, two longtime bastions of the music. All three performers are Blues Music Award winners and among the most respected figures in contemporary blues today.

THE ANDY T — NICK NIXON BAND

The Nashville-based Andy T – Nick Nixon Band has quickly developed an international reputation for excellence in traditional blues, garnering a Blues Music Award nomination for their second album Livin’ It Up. California-born guitarist Andy T, a veteran of Smokey Wilson’s and Guitar Shorty’s bands, brings a pedigreed six-string approach stoked by the fires of T-Bone Walker and Albert Collins, among other guitar greats, to the fore, while veteran singer Nick Nixon, who emerged from Nashville’s Jefferson Street music scene in the 1960s and was signed to the historic Chess label, is a powerhouse whose voice can only be described as a force of nature. This show is a special album-release celebration for their new album Numbers Man, scheduled for August 28.
