Applications are still being accepted for the 2015 Young Scholars Institute. Week One is closed; however, Week 2 has a few more class options and we are sure you will find classes that will both challenge and entertain your children!
Sponsored by the FSSD, YSI offers challenging, exploratory classes which are designed for independent and highly motivated learners. The courses are academically and artistically challenging. YSI is designed for the mature, independent student who is ready to change classes. We are proud to provide this opportunity to the students of our community.
YSI is located at two separate sites. Franklin Elementary hosts the Junior Scholars program, which serves students who have completed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades (ages 7-10). Senior Scholars serves students who have completed the 5th grade and above (ages 11-14), and is held at Poplar Grove.

May 14 – Phone Photography (Pam Hawkins)
The May Mini Clinic will feature Pam Hawkins giving a presentation on phone photography. According to Pam, “I plan on focusing on how to use the IPhone as an artistic tool in addition to a regular camera. The discussion will include specific software apps and equipment. I will also bring some IPhone images that have been printed.”
A number of BPG members have taken courses from Pam at Nashville State and have given rave reviews. We are lucky to have her as a mini clinic presenter. You can check out some of her art at www.pamhawkinsphotography.com
