The Franklin Theatre – Atlanta Rhythm Section

For more than 30 years, members of The Atlanta Rhythm Section have entertained audiences all over the world with their hits. The members of Atlanta Rhythm Section originally came together as a session band at Studio One, an Atlanta area studio recording artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Al Kooper, Dickey Betts and .38 Special. The band put out 15 albums and were paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers – carrying the mantle of “Southern Rock” in the late 70s. But performing songs that were more musically diverse and having hits that had a softer, pop flavor, they had a sound all their own. Influenced by music coming out of England and sharing the musical styling’s of groups likes The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, the members of ARS were accomplished musicians who constantly tried to evolve – think Steely Dan or Little Feat.

Studio Tenn Extends Invitation to its Annual Award-Winning Gala One Night Only 2017 With The Loft Party

Franklin, TN – Studio Tenn’s annual fundraising gala, One Night Only, returns to Liberty Hall at The Factory at Franklin in Franklin, TN, on October 20, 2017. Winner of multiple NFocus Nashville’s Best Parties 2016 awards, including “Best Entertainment” and “Best Reminder of Nashville’s Talent,” the dazzling evening of live entertainment is hailed as the most highly anticipated social and philanthropic events of the season.

One Night Only features an incomparable night of live entertainment, food, drinks and a silent auction to support the eighth season of Middle Tennessee’s very own world-class professional theatre company. This year’s One Night Only will be tastefully decked in blue and gold, and welcomes the best of Broadway and Nashville talent to the stage, including Eden Espinosa, Mike Eldred, Diana DeGarmo, Kyle Dean Massey, Melinda Doolittle and more.

Studio Tenn’s Artistic Director, Matt Logan, says that the evening’s growing popularity has led to the 2017 One Night Only being bigger and better than ever.

“We’ve never had an interest this large going into the event,” said Logan. “Tables starting selling so rapidly, we had to quickly find a way to expand the room to accommodate more guests, which is how the new Loft Party was created.”

A new addition to this year’s gala, Studio Tenn introduces the One Night Only Loft Party to invite a greater number of people to enjoy Nashville’s best bash. For only $100, Loft Party guests can join the celebration at 8 p.m. for the fabulous entertainment and auction, an open bar, hors devours and more. With a spectacular view from the balcony, the Loft Party will include seating and standing room availability.

Charlotte Goldston, One Night Only co-chair, said the Loft Party is a great addition to this year’s gala. “The show is so spectacular that patrons are on their feet most of the night with repeated standing ovations, so the standing room in the balcony is going to make for an incredible view. It’s one that would turn Broadway stages green with envy,” said Goldston.

Driven by the incredible popularity of this event, Studio Tenn has also added superior and premium level seating to the event to accommodate the record breaking attendance of the evening. Tickets start at $225 per person and includes entertainment, an open bar generously provided by Lipman Brothers, a deliciously crafted meal from Sargent’s Catering, and an unparalleled silent auction. The auction is also available online for those not in attendance and customers can begin bidding on items now.

“This is Studio Tenn’s fifth annual One Night Only fundraiser,” said Trish Munro, One Night Only co-chair. “Word is out that this is the best show in town. Invitations were not even mailed out this year because the demand was so high and tickets were taken so quickly.”

One Night Only will also honor Jean and Denny Bottorff, as well as Emily Magid, whose support and advocacy for advancement of the arts in our community have been integral to Studio Tenn’s success.

Constitution Week September 17 – 23

CELEBRATE THE FOUNDATION OF AMERICADAR Daughters of the American Revolution

DAR Promotes Constitution Week

There are two documents of paramount importance to American history: the Declaration of Independence, which forged our national identity, and the United States Constitution, which set forth the framework for the federal government that is still in use today. While Independence Day is a beloved national holiday, fewer people know about Constitution Week, an annual commemoration of the living document that upholds and protects the freedoms central to our American way of life.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) initiated the observance in 1955, when the organization petitioned the U.S. Congress to dedicate September 17–23 of each year to the commemoration of Constitution Week. Congress adopted the resolution, and on August 2, 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed it into Public Law #915. The celebration’s goals are threefold: to encourage the study of the historical events that led to the framing of the Constitution in September 1787; to inform people that the Constitution is the basis of America’s great heritage and the foundation of our way of life; and to emphasize U.S. citizens’ responsibility to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution.

DAR has been the foremost advocate for the awareness, promotion and celebration of Constitution Week. This annual observance provides innumerable opportunities for educational initiatives and community outreach, two mission areas of crucial importance to the National Society’s work.

Locally, the Old Glory Chapter will be hosting several events highlighting Constitution Week this year. Both the Williamson County Mayor, Rogers Anderson, and the Franklin City Mayor, Dr. Ken Moore, will sign proclamations officially designating September 17 – 23 as Constitution Week. The proclamations will be presented to Old Glory Chapter Regent, Anna Shaffer, in special ceremonies. For the second year in a row, the chapter will partner with Williamson County elementary schools with a guest reader program featuring the book We the Kids. The commemorative events will continue on Sunday, September 17, with the ringing of downtown Franklin church bells at 3:00 pm. Immediately following the bell ringing, the public is invited to join in a Constitution Week patriotic program at the Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church, featuring our most inventive founding father Ben Franklin. At the conclusion of the program, there will be a demonstration by Ben Franklin of his many inventions at the Williamson County Public Library.

One of the largest patriotic women’s organizations in the world, DAR has more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters across the country and even in numerous foreign countries. DAR strives to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and

educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service, and

more. For additional information about DAR and its programs, visit www.dar.org. ##

Franklin’s favorite eatery by McConnell Hospitality Group opens second location in Brentwood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Brentwood residents who travel south for their favorite eateries can now stay closer to home. 55 South, a concept by the McConnell Hospitality Group, has opened its second location at 7031 Executive Center Dr. in the heart of Brentwood, TN.

“55 South has become such a neighborhood staple in Franklin, and we are excited to create a new home in Brentwood,” said Sharon Davis, director of operations and development at McConnell Hospitality Group. “Our Brentwood location offers a lunch and dinner menu almost identical to Franklin, and we look forward to getting to know the Brentwood community.”

The menu offers fare that is often found along the stretch of Interstate 55 that runs all the way from Memphis to New Orleans, also known as 55 South. Chef Jason McConnell brings his favorite flavors off the road and to the menu, including items such as char-grilled and fried oysters, loaded fries, seafood and sandwiches. Brunch is also offered, including a limited menu of breakfast staples, along with the regular lunch and dinner menus. Drink specials are available, such as a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, along with two-for-one mimosas.

The restaurant is owned by Jason McConnell, who is also the executive chef and owner of McConnell Hospitality Group. This is the first restaurant in a newly formed partnership with Fresh Hospitality, which owns and operates concepts such as Juice Bar, The Grilled Cheeserie and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. McConnell is the sole owner of all Franklin properties.

The Brentwood 55 South, which opened on July 24 features 4,000-square-feet and 150 seats. The restaurant also boasts an oversized bar and beverage program unlike anything currently available in the Brentwood neighborhood. 55 South is open Mon. – Thurs. from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Fri. from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Sat. from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sun.
