H&M is proud to announce a collaboration with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs located in the Palais du Louvre in Paris to celebrate the new H&M Conscious Exclusive collection. This beautiful new range has been inspired by the archives of the museum, and will be launched on Thursday 7th April to coincide with the opening of the hotly anticipated exhibition, Fashion forward – Three centuries of fashion. H&M is delighted to also reveal that Parisian art director, style maven and sustainability champion, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, will be the face of the campaign.

“I am honoured to be the ambassador of such a unique project. I think that the idea of creating a collection inspired by the history of art and fashion is brilliant. Especially since it is made with innovative and sustainable materials which are the future of fashion” says Julia. Known for her distinctive personal sense of style, Julia is the embodiment of effortless, conscious and modern cool.

For this Conscious Exclusive collection the H&M design team has worked closely with the museum, delving into their collections of archival fashions as well as the work of artists such as Gustave Moreau to find inspiration. The outcome is a glamorous line of modern red carpet pieces infused with tactile charm, a nostalgic aesthetic and a historical legacy.

“With this collection we brought the idea of sustainability to new levels. Working with new innovative materials such as beads and rhinestones made from recycled glass and Denimite, a material made from recycled worn-out denim. We have created contemporary styles imbued with a sophisticated charm” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M.

H&M will be the exclusive sponsor of the upcoming exhibition which will include selected styles from the H&M archives, including a look from the first ever H&M designer collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004 as well as one silhouette from the new Conscious Exclusive collection.

The complete collection, featuring clothing and accessories for women, will be available from Thursday 7th April in around 180 stores worldwide and online.

L’Oréal News

A L’Oréal Research team, the only one to have patented silane technology application in cosmetics, has been invited to present its pioneer work and recent findings during the XVIII edition of the International Sol-Gel Conference held in Kyoto (September 6th to 11th, 2015). This biennial conference, which gathers the best experts in this field of chemistry, is centred on its industrial applications. Given the novelty of this work, L’Oréal Research’s presentation will also be published in the Conference review.

Born of a glass industry technology transfer, the sol-gels technology is a chemical process capable of transforming some materials from an aqueous to a solid gel-like state. Thanks to L’Oréal laboratories’ work, this process turned out to be an innovative answer to treat fine hair: it creates a supple yet resistant molecular network within the fibre to redensify and strengthen it.

«L’Oréal Research has always been dedicated to developing an effective and long-lasting solution to treat damaged hair. We knew that part of the answer was finding a material capable of penetrating the hair, the big question was how. Following several years of research, the ideal solution came with sol-gels », says Henri SAMAIN, Head of department, L’Oréal Research & Innovation, who presented L’Oréal’s findings during this conference.

L’Oréal Research has gone a step further by exploring the potential applications of silanes, a family of molecules inspired by sol-gels technology, and by developing Aminosilane to repair damaged hair. With a mineral part and an organic part, this silicon compound crosses the cuticle and strengthens the hair structure. Its effect is long-lasting and even more efficient when hair is damaged.

Within the L’Oréal Group, the L’Oréal Professionnel brand has benefited from this discovery. Aminosilane is one of the two key ingredients of the APTYL 100 molecular complex at the heart of the PRO FIBER first long-lasting hair repair treatment used by professionals in hair salons.

Franklin Firefighters’ eighth annual Christmas Toy and Clothing Drive is underway

As you’re making a list and checking it twice, Franklin Firefighters are hoping you’ll consider adding a gift for a child who’s part of their eighth annual Christmas Toy and Clothing Drive.

The Franklin Firefighters kicked off the drive this week, with gift requests of more than 300 Williamson County children adorning the holiday fire hydrant displays outside Franklin fire stations and Franklin City Hall.

Franklin Fire Captain Clay Mackey said the toy and clothing drive has provided coats, clothes, shoes and toys to hundreds of children each year since 2008.  He said the recipients are identified by representatives of the Williamson County Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee, who work with other charities to prevent duplication of efforts.

To participate, select a gift request card from one of the displays and purchase the single item requested on the card.  Return new, unwrapped gifts with the card attached to a fire station or City Hall by Sunday, Dec. 6.

Monetary donations are also accepted at Franklin Fire Administration in City Hall or Avenue Bank.  Checks should be made payable to Franklin Firefighters Charities.  All contributions are tax deductible.

For more information please contact the Franklin Fire Department at 615-791-3270 or visit www.FranklinFirefightersCharities.org.

Actors from around the country converge on Franklin for red carpet premiere

Actors from as far away as New York City and Branson, Mo., converged on downtown Franklin Sunday for the red carpet premiere of the movie Providence at the historic Franklin Theatre.

The festivities began in the afternoon with red carpet photos followed by the first screening. Cast, crew, family, friends, musical artists and industry professionals packed into the theater for the first theatrical screening of the silent cinema-style romance. The screening was followed by red carpet interviews with local media. The evening closed with a second screening and more photos.

“I was very impressed by the film and its unique form of storytelling,” said attendee Johnathan Schutz.  “The amount of emotional subtlety conveyed by both the writing and the acting without the use of sound design or dialogue was excellent, and the production came together well to bring an impactful story about the grand orchestration of God in the microcosm of a couple’s love story.”

Providence is the story of Rachel Cartwright and Mitchell Little, who grow up in the small town of Providence, Tenn. Their paths keep crossing and at one point it looks like they’ll finally get together. But the opportunity slips away and they go their separate ways. It takes a tragedy many years later before they’re reunited.

This romance film is all portrayed with no dialogue, using only dramatic action and a soundtrack of eclectic indie music. It stars Rich Swingle (Beyond the Mask), Juli Tapken (Surrender), Josh Allen (Home Sweet Bus), Stacey Bradshaw (Touched by Grace), Chase Anderson (Where Hope Grows), Emily Knapp (The Good Book), and Irene Santiago (High School Musical).

Providence will be releasing to theaters nationwide on Feb. 12, 2016.

Red Cross to host blood drive in honor of Oak Valley Baptist Church member

The American Red Cross and Oak Valley Baptist Church in Franklin are hosting a blood drive in honor of church member Beth Helm on Monday, Nov. 9 at the church.

Helm has been a dedicated Red Cross blood donor after she experienced a health scare as a teenager and required several pints of blood.

Helm says when she was an active, healthy 13-year-old she began hemorrhaging while at school. Over several days, she was in and out of consciousness and was eventually rushed to the hospital, where she received blood transfusions.

She says she credits the Red Cross and the people who had donated their blood with saving her life. It’s something that has motivated her to give back and become a regular blood donor herself, recently reaching the milestone of donating one gallon of blood. She says she plans to continue donating and encourages others to give, too.

“Through the years, I have thanked God for giving me this life and I have remembered to donate blood so that I can be a blessing to others in need,” Helm said.

The blood drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. at the church located at 1161 Lewisburg Pike. To make an appointment to donate, call 1 800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), visit redcrossblood.org or download the Red Cross Blood Donor app. Walk-ins are welcome.
