BrightStone Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary Bowlability

FRANKLIN, TN — BrightStone will be hosting its 10th annual Bowlability event August 6th and 7th of 2018. This time-honored tradition is the perfect way for families, churches, businesses, and communities to gather and support this important local organization. Your support and partnership with BrightStone strengthens our community and profoundly enriches the lives of adults with special needs. Plus, you will have a great time bowling!

“Bowlability is one of the most rewarding and fun evenings you can have joining with friends and colleagues in a special way to support a very special mission with BrightStone!” Recalls Terry Bridges, BrightStone Board Member and retired President of Behavioral Health Systems, HCA.

You can set up a team of up to six bowlers for a registration fee of $150 (individuals can register for $25 each). There are four possible two-hour sessions to choose from beginning at either 5:00 P.M. or 7:30 P.M. Monday, August 6th or Tuesday, August 7th. Upon signing up, each individual bowler receives easy to use online tools to help fundraise and reach your own personal goal. Your own goal is not an obligation, but an opportunity to support BrightStone through fundraising and growing the awareness of BrightStone’s mission through sharing your page with family and friends. Every fundraising bowler that raises at least $100 gets an exclusive Bowlability t-shirt at the event. It’s as easy as asking ten friends to give $10 each!

Battle of Franklin Trust Hosts Eight Annual Bootlegger’s Bash

Franklin event features Southern fare, local whiskey and live entertainment

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Battle of Franklin Trust will host its eighth annual Bootlegger’s Bash on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Carnton. The annual event invites guests to celebrate Williamson County’s unique history of bootlegging with a casual evening featuring Tennessee distillers, a traditional Southern dinner and live entertainment featuring Chad Street Band.

This year’s event offers a tasting-only ticket for those who are unable to stay for dinner. All proceeds from this ticketed event are donated to the Battle of Franklin Trust and its efforts to preserve the springhouse at Carnton.

“Bootlegger’s Bash is an exciting event at Carnton and every year we attract a lively crowd to celebrate the bootlegging history of Tennessee,” said Jayde Smith, event coordinator at The Battle of Franklin Trust. “Guests will enjoy an entertaining evening with dinner, whiskey tasting and a live band.”

Dinner will feature a whole hog roast and other traditional Southern fare. Local Tennessee distilleries will provide whiskey tastings, such as Heath Clark, Leipers Fork Distillery, Corsair Artisans, Tenn South, Prichard’s Distillery, members of the Associated Distillers of Tennessee and more to be announced. Community co-chairs for this event are long-time Trust supporters Leigh Bawcom, Bess and Tim Kearns.

Tickets are required and must be purchased in advance online at www.boft.org. Tasting tickets are $35 per person, which includes all tastings from local distillers. VIP tickets can be purchased for $65 per person or $100 per couple, these include tastings, dinner and live entertainment. Bootlegger’s Bash is a strictly 21 and up event. Community members and music-lovers gathered at Carnton on Sunday evening for a night of summer fun. The Sunset Concert Series kicked off its 2018 season with music from FAB: A Beatles Tribute. Families and friends gathered on the east lawn next to Carnton for a Franklin summer evening, accompanied by beautiful weather and food offerings from Yayo’s O.M.G. Tacos, Puckett’s Trolley, Maggie Moos ice cream and Retro Sno food trucks. Specialty drinks were offered, including margaritas provided by Chuy’s and mint juleps. The Sunset Concert Series raises funds for the Battle of Franklin Trust, which operates Carter House and Carnton. 22nd Annual Chukkers for Charity to Feature All Female Players on Saturday, Sept. 8

Nissan returns as title sponsor of the signature polo match and classic car show at Riverview Farm

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Nissan’s Chukkers for Charity returns on Saturday, Sept. 8 for the 22nd annual polo match and car show held in Franklin, Tenn. This year’s theme, “Diamonds and Divots,” will celebrate an afternoon of polo featuring all female polo players for the first time. Chukkers for Charity raises funds for Rochelle Center and Saddle Up! and has raised $2.1 million over the last 21 years.

“We are thrilled to participate in another year of Chukkers for Charity,” said Debbie Chadwick, president of Rochelle Center. “This wonderful outdoor event directly supports the work of our programs and the programs at Saddle Up!, and it’s an honor to receive funds from this fun, community wide event.”

Chukkers for Charity is the largest polo event in Middle Tennessee and features a vintage car show parade during half time, a silent auction and cabana decorating competition. Guests are encouraged to participate in celebrating the theme through the décor of their individual cabana tailgating headquarters. For the first time ever, Chukkers for Charity will feature a hat contest as well as best dressed in their favorite party attire for the event.

Executive Director of Saddle Up! Laurie Kush added, “For 22 years, Saddle Up! has been honored to be part of one of Middle Tennessee’s favorite fundraising events, Chukkers for Charity. Proceeds from the event support our programs that serve children and youth with disabilities through adaptive equine therapy.”

Fieldside Patron Tables are available for $2,500 per table of 10. Standard Patron Tables are available for $1,750 per table of 10 or $175 per individual ticket. Hammers & High Heels

Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury will host their annual Hammers & High Heels event on June 2nd at The Factory in Franklin.  

This festive evening will include:

  • Cocktail Reception from Gray’s on Main and H Clark Distillery
  • Silent & Live Auction
  • Gourmet Dinner Buffet
  • Dancing with music by RubiksGroove

Each year more than 10,000 women join construction teams nationwide during The National Women Build, raising their hammers to help build affordable housing in their own communities. In April, Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury will kick off its ninth annual Women Build.  Funds raised from sponsors, individual donors, and the Hammers & High Heels event help raise the $70,000 for the cost of “bricks and sticks” to build the home, covering everything from the foundation to the kitchen sink.  

More than 300 volunteers will come together during the seven-week build, putting in 2,400+ labor hours to make the dream of homeownership a reality for a single mother in need.

The luscious greens and fairways of the Brentwood Country Club will fill with golfers on May 21st to support the mission of High Hopes Development Center to equip children, youth, and their families with the skills necessary to achieve success through education, therapeutic services, and loving support. For the last two years, High Hopes has hosted a full field of players, and this year is shaping up to be the same.  ImageQuest is scheduled to tee up a Bloody Mary tent while Buffalo Wings & Rings, Edley’s BBQ, and Czann’s Brewery are on par to serve their goods on the course as well. 15th Annual Main Street Brewfest: Tap into History! (St. Patrick’s Day)

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Historic Downtown Franklin and Tap into History at the 15th Annual Main Street Brewfest presented by Lipman Brothers! This fun event will boast over 70 beers across multiple tasting locations on America’s Favorite Main Street. For beer lovers spanning all ages (21 and over), Main Street Brewfest offers craft brews from established and new breweries, both local and abroad. Enjoy restaurants, local food trucks, shopping, entertainment and plenty of Irish cheer — on St. Patrick’s Day!

Franklin’s Main Street Brewfest is produced by the Downtown Franklin Association, a nationally accredited Main Street Program and a division of the Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County. Proceeds from the event go to the continued revitalization and promotion of the 16-block historic district, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and designated by the National Trust as a Great American Main Street and a Preserve America community.
