fish fry event franklin tn BUMCThe biggest backyard party with over 1,800 pounds of fresh catfish is set for Friday, July 21 2017 in the Grassland community of Franklin when Bethlehem United Methodist Church hosts the 43rd BUMC Fish Fry on the church’s shaded grounds.

With live music, all-you-can-eat farm-raised catfish and an incredible free children’s play area, the Bethlehem UMC Fish Fry is Friday, July 21 on the shaded grounds of the church off Old Hillsboro Road in the Grassland Area from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., 2419 Bethlehem Loop Road, Franklin (37069).  

Tickets for adults are $10 in advance at the church and $13 the day of the event. Children 10 and under are always $6 and children under three are free!  Hot dogs are available for children and a separate carryout serving area is provided.

Bluegrass Along the Harpeth Fiddlers Jamboree

Always held the 4th weekend in July, Bluegrass Along the Harpeth was started in 1991 and has had several homes in Franklin, TN over the years. Most recently it has made it’s home on the town square.  The historic backdrop is the perfect place for our weekend of music in honor of Franklin’s own Grand Ole Opry stars Sam and Kirk McGee. This festival is put on and operated by old time musicians and dancers. It’s their love for the music and its preservation that make this festival special and a not-to-be-missed event every year. Proceeds Benefit Williamson County Cultural Arts Commission.

Battle of Franklin Trust Host Seventh Annual Bootlegger’s Bash

Prohibition-era event features Southern fare, local whiskey and live entertainment in Franklin, TN

FRANKLIN, TN. – The Battle of Franklin Trust will host its seventh annual Bootlegger’s Bash on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at Carnton. The annual event invites guests to celebrate Williamson County’s unique history of bootlegging with a casual evening featuring Tennessee distillers, a traditional Southern dinner and live entertainment. All proceeds from this ticketed event are donated to the Battle of Franklin Trust and its efforts to preserve Carnton and The Carter House.

“Bootlegger’s Bash is a staple event at Carnton and every year we attract a fun crowd to celebrate Tennessee’s bootlegging history,” said Jayde Jacobs, wedding and event coordinator at The Battle of Franklin Trust. “Guests will enjoy a lively night with dinner, whiskey tasting and a live bluegrass band.”

Dinner will be provided by Chef Penelope, featuring classic Southern fare. Local Tennessee distilleries will also provide whiskey tastings, such as Heath Clark and members of the Associated Distillers of Tennessee.

Bootlegger’s Bash is a strictly 21 and up event. Enjoy free live entertainment during lunch at the new Brown Bag concert series at Academy Park. The kick-off concert is Friday, June 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave.

Live entertainment will be provided by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Rachel Taylor who blends alternative folk, 50s country and unplugged pop. Heart Hunters will also be performing, blending their rich Southern harmonies on songs about love, loss and yearning. Rounding out the performers is 2016 CCMA-nominated New Artist of the Year, April Nicole, with traditional Country ballads. April will be accompanied by her multi-talented seven-year-old daughter Sophia.

The USATF certified racecourse is nestled in the pristine backcountry of Williamson County just minutes from downtown Franklin, TN. Over the past five years, the half marathon has attracted up to as many as 1,000 participants each year.

The NISSAN Taste of Music City will once again be hosting an all inclusive event so that attendees can enjoy unlimited tastings for one price. There will be a limited number of tickets available which can be purchased in advance online at TasteOfMusicCity.com for $59 (plus tax) or at the gates for $69 (plus tax) if not sold out. Up-and-coming country recording artist Zach Stone is set to headline the early morning “finish line festivities” at the 5th Annual Hillbilly Half Marathon and Little Billy 5K in Leiper’s Fork, Tenn. on Saturday, June 3. Originated as the Franklin Half Marathon, the 2017 race marks its fifth running this June; the Hillbilly Half has become a special, must-attend community event for avid runners and enthusiastic family members, friends and neighbors.
