Protect Your Pets in an Emergency

Incoming heavy rains prompt microchip clinics

With the remnants of Hurricane Harvey expected to bring heavy rain, possible flooding and a tornado threat to Middle Tennessee in the next few days, Williamson County Animal Center is urging all pet owners to have an emergency plan in place for their pets.

Pets often get lost during weather emergencies, and a simple microchip is one way to insure your pet can be identified and returned to you. The shelter is offering microchips for $15 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily through Friday, September 1. Both dogs and cats can be chipped, and it is a quick, simple procedure that only takes minutes. Dogs should be leashed, and cats should be in carriers. You do not have to be a Williamson County resident to get a microchip.

The shelter also urges all pet owners to have a plan in place which includes a pet emergency kit, a buddy system with friends or neighbors, and transportation. Learn more about being prepared for pet emergencies at www.aspca.org.

The Williamson County Animal Center is located at 106 Claude Yates Dr. in Franklin. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4:00 p.m. (Closed Labor Day, September 4.)  Currently, the adoption fee for all kittens and cats is waived. Adult dog adoptions are $50, and puppies are $85. Adoptable animals can be viewed at www.adoptwcac.org. For more information, call (615) 790-5590 or like Williamson County Animal Center on Facebook.

SHELTER WAIVES CAT/KITTEN ADOPTION FEES

Urgent plea for adopters

Franklin, TN – For the second time this summer, Williamson County Animal Center in Franklin is overflowing with adoptable cats and kittens. To promote adoption and relieve overcrowding, Shelter Director Laura Chavarria said the shelter is waiving the cat and kitten adoption fees until further notice. Adoptions do require an approved application and include vaccinations, spay or neuter (or $50 returnable deposit) and microchip.

Chavarria says that many of the young immature kittens that have been cared for in foster homes since late May and June have now become eligible for adoption. “Our fosters are bringing in litters of kittens daily, and they are overwhelming our capacity. We are appealing to the public for help.  If you have ever wanted a kitten or cat, now is the time to be a hero and adopt.”  Intake numbers skyrocketed in June, with 345 cats received at the shelter, an all-time high for a one-month period.  The steady intake continued with 205 in July and a surge to 300  in August.

Chavarria continues to stress the importance of spaying and neutering pets. “This annual seasonal influx of kittens could be relieved,” she says, “if more people had their cats spayed and neutered. One unspayed female, her mate and all of their offspring can result in over 2,000 births in four years, and two million in eight years.” The shelter offers a low-cost feline spay/neuter program to county residents (call for details).

(Closed Labor Day, September 4.)  The adoption fee for adult cats and dogs is $50; puppies are $85. Adoptable animals can be viewed at www. adoptwcac.org. For more information, call (615) 790-5590 or like Williamson County Animal Center on Facebook.

61 Days in Church Art | Size: 2.4 MB| Type: JPG | > Download

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sixty-one tour dates, an average of 37 songs per night, totaling over 200 hours of live music. That’s what Eric Church ultimately played in a five-month period spanning January 13 through May 27, 2017. In an issue takeover, Church hinted something big was to come post-tour telling Billboard, “We recorded all of it. We had some [songs] that I was adamant that I wouldn’t rehearse with the band. I would tell the band a couple hours before the show, ‘This is the song we’re going to do,’ and then I wouldn’t see them until we did it, when we played live…’” says the man Stereogum calls “our greatest working rock star.” Now, those recordings are being released across 61 Days in Church. Beginning today fans will have access to 30 initial live recordings from various stops across North America. Then, subsequent releases through the end of the year – including some catalogue and cover songs as well as songs inspired by events that happened while he was on the road – released chronologically to complete the list. The tracks will initially be released only on the Apple Music platform for a two-week period before being made available on all streaming services.

“I had so much fun learning songs that were unique to whatever city we found ourselves in,” Church reflects. “I learned a lot about each place, and it was special to see the crowd react to the songs that were only for them.  I’m glad we recorded it and can relive it forever.”

With the unique, individual tour posters from each tour stop serving as the artwork for each week’s release, 61 Days in Church drops just as fans can see a different show from Church as he takes the stage in Tahoe this Labor Day weekend for two sold-out nights at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena.

Church’s Holdin’ My Own Tour sold 930,000 tickets at the end of its run notching his as the top music tour in the first quarter of 2017 (Pollstar), but as Dave Brooks (Billboard Magazine) noted, “Fans will remember that tour by another metric: the marathon three-and- a-half hours Church played nightly as he crisscrossed the United States and Canada.”

Information on 61 Days in Church can be found here: ericchurch.com/sixtyonedaysinchurch and see remaining 2017 shows at ericchurch.com/events.
