Recognized among the best anywhere by its peers at the state and international levels, with last year’s event winning awards from the Tennessee Association of Fairs and the International Association of Fairs and Expos, the Williamson County Fair is supported by more than 1,800 volunteers, numerous sponsors, its home county and surrounding communities. Featuring numerous attractions, entertainment, and competitive events, the Fair has grown each summer and continues to be a beacon for agricultural education in Williamson County.

The 2018 Williamson County Fair runs August 3rd through 11th at the Williamson County Agricultural EXPO Park, 4215 Long Lane, Franklin, TN, 37064.

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s award-winning children’s theatre group, the Star Bright Players, presents Disney’s The Lion King Jr. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 29-July 1. Watch the African savannah come to life as Simba, Rafiki and friends journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this coming of age tale. The talented all-youth cast will take you along on a fantastical romp through this colorful production.

Performances of The Lion King Jr. are Friday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, 112 Everbright Ave. in Franklin, TN. Pure Prairie League – The Franklin Theatre

From their beginnings in mid-Sixties Ohio as a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day unit featuring founding member/pedal-steel innovator John David Call, veteran bassist Mike Reilly, propulsive drummer Scott Thompson and guitar ace Donnie Clark, PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE continues to embellish the rich 43-year history of one of Country-Rock’s pioneering forces. As one reviewer recently wrote: “PPL’s sound combines sweet memories with edgy, contemporary muscle. Their vocals are as strong as Kentucky moonshine and the musicianship and performance skills are as sharp as a straight razor”.

Their eponymous first album – featuring the Norman Rockwell/Saturday Evening Post cover that introduced fans to PPL’s trademark cowpoke “Sad Luke” – has been hailed as a “major early influence in the emerging popularity of Country-Rock music”. Their second effort, the multi- platinum “Bustin’ Out” brought us the Craig Fuller-penned classic “Amie”, along with other gems of the genre. Tim O’Brien With Jan Fabricius – The Franklin Theatre – Franklin, TN Events

Grammy winning singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist Tim O’Brien grew up singing in church and in school, and after seeing Doc Watson on TV, became a lifelong devotee of old time and bluegrass music. Tim first toured nationally in the 1980’s with Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize. Kathy Mattea scored a country hit with his song Walk The Way The Wind Blows in 1986, and soon more artists like Nickel Creek and Garth Brooks covered his songs. Over the years, Tim has released 15 solo CD’s, as well as collaborations with his sister Mollie O’Brien, songwriter Darrell Scott, and noted old time musician Dirk Powell. He’s performed or recorded with Steve Earle, Mark Knopfler, Bill Frisell, and Steve Martin, and produced records for Yonder Mountain Stringband, David Bromberg, and Canada’s Old Man Luedecke.

O’Brien’s solo shows feature his solid guitar, fiddle, and banjo, along with his engaging vocals and harmony from Jan Fabricius. Expect a range of original compositions and traditional arrangements from his many discs, mixed with stories and Tim’s self-deprecating humor.
