Touch a Truck Comes to Thompson’s Station

Don’t forget to mark your calendar and attend Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s annual “Touch a Truck”! This free family friendly event will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Thompson Station Church, 2604 Thompson Station Road and Columbia Pike. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to look at, climb on and sound all the bells and whistles on nearly 30 different kinds of large scale construction and public service vehicles.

 

Kids can paint a toy vehicle to take home at the free craft tent, and families will enjoy a variety of entertainers on the performance stage, including musicians, magicians, and dancers! There will be free face painting and a raffle tent giving away lots of great prizes for the whole family, including cool items such as motorized kid’s vehicles and more! This is a great, hands-on opportunity for children and adults to explore all types of BIG vehicles. This event is for all ages to enjoy! Admission to the event is free; though cost is incurred for concessions from on-site food trucks. Rides on the D&H Railroad trackless train are just $1. Sponsors: The Children’s Academy and Sport Clips.  Supporters: Premier Chiropractic, Lil’ Sluggers (LPG Sports Academy), Merle Norman, Hibbett Sports, Captain D’s, Dreams Do Come True and McDonald’s. Seniors to Tour the Frist

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites area seniors (55 and older) to join the fun on two upcoming trips. Online registration is now available for the Frist Center for the Visual Arts on March 21, and Fiddler’s Grove Village on May 5.

 

March 21: Frist Center for the Visual Arts

Join the fun on senior day at Nashville’s Frist Center for the Visual Arts on Monday, March 21. Enjoy a Dutch treat lunch in the museum café (15% off) and free music by Snappy Pappy in the lobby.  Receive a 15% discount on all museum shop purchases during your visit. The group will take a docent led tour of the current exhibits at 1:30 p.m.   The trip is $22 per person and includes transportation and admission only.  Pick up times and locations: 9:00 a.m. from the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr., (615) 302-0971, ext. 2210; 10:00 a.m. from the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., (615) 790-5719, ext. 2010; and 10:00 a.m. from the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd., (615) 786-0200, ext. 2410. Story Time with the Williamson County Public Library

Toddler Time Parents and their children ages 18 months to 3 years are invited to Toddler Time on Tuesdays at 10:00 am and 11:15 am in the Story Theater. Caregivers will have fun engaging their toddlers in a variety of activities including stories, songs, movement, music and more!

Preschool Story Time Parents and their children ages 3 to 5 years are invited to Preschool Story time on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am in the Story Theater. Both days offer entertaining and educational stories, songs and early literacy skills. No reservations required.

The Snuggle Bug Club is a monthly lapsit program that uses music, stories, movement, and more to encourage interactions between caregivers and babies ages 0 to 18 months of age. It is held on the fourth Friday of each month at 10:00 am in the Children’s Department.
