WATERCOLOR JOINS UPCOMING CLASSES

Franklin Recreation Complex

Franklin, TN – The Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., offers activities for all ages in including classes in adult watercolor, preschool musical theatre, mindfulness, kids cooking, adult painting, piano lessons and line dancing. Broaden your horizons and try something new!

 

Basic Watercolor & Pencil Techniques

Try watercolor—learn painting and brush techniques, color mixing, special effects and more. This new class will also teach pencil techniques, design, composition and creating mood. Professional artist and instructor Tim Pafford will teach this class for teens and adults at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. No experience is necessary. This ongoing class meets on Tuesday evenings, August 1-September 19, ($30 per class, #10043) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Registration is also open for a September 26-November 21 session ($240, 8 weeks, #10063). Color Wheels-Homeschool Art Class

Each week, students in this ongoing art class will explore art history, techniques, styles and artists from the past and present. A variety of media will be used to create rich experiences for each child.  Instructor: Shelly Egly. Color Wheels for homeschoolers meets Fridays, September 1-29 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Piano

Private piano lessons are offered on Fridays in 30-minute time slots. Learn note reading skills, music theory and artistic technique.  For ages 4 through adults. Sticky Fingers Preschool Art Club

Enhance and celebrate you preschooler’s creativity by enrolling them in the Sticky Fingers Preschool Art Club at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Ms. Shelly offers educational art experiences geared to young children (ages 3 to 6, potty-trained), with 2 to 3 works of art completed in each class. Choose Fridays, September 1-29 ($60 for 5 classes, #10070) or Mondays, September 11-25 ($36 for 3 classes, #10067). Color Wheels-After School Art

Join the fun as explore art history, techniques, styles, and famous artists from past to present.  This class is for kids 5 to 11 years, and meets Wednesdays, September 6-27 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The fee is $58. Preschool Musical Theatre

Theatre professional Julia Nolan leads this fun Preschool Musical Theatre class for ages 3-5 years. Learn songs and dances along with theatre games to perform for parents, family and friends. Class meets Wednesdays, September 6-27 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The course fee is $80m and registration is open at www.wcparksandrec.com (activity # 10334).

 

 

Mommy & Me Movement

Bring the kids, ages 0-4 months for a fun and energetic 30-minute movement class. Moms and kids will dance, sing, bond and make memories. Dads, grandparents and caregivers are welcome.  Mommy & Me Movement meets on Mondays, beginning September 11 from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.  General admission fees apply. (Class is free to all premium family pass holders.)

 

Kids Cooking Class

Kids will tantalize their taste buds and have fun with food in this Kids Cooking Class, September 18-October 24 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Class meets on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p./m. and is for ages 8 to 12.  Learn kitchen skills and nutrition while making guacamole, pizza dough, sauces, no-bake cookies and more! The course is $120, and registration is open at www.wcparksandrec.com (activity #10305).

 

Safe Kids 101

Does your child know where your first aid kit is kept? What if someone tried to break in while they were home alone? This 3-hour course trains kids (ages 9 to 12) to be safe at home and in the community, receiving hands-on training for serious situations but in a fun, memorable way.  Includes a Smart Kids workbook. Class meets Saturday, September 30 from 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. To register, go to www.smartkids101.com-Programs. $35 per child.

New classes include preschool art, guitar lessons

The Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd., has added new classes for kids and adults.  Try the Sticky Fingers Preschool art class, or learn to play the guitar.  All classes are open to the public, and registration is available at www.wcparksandrec.com.

 

Sticky Fingers Preschool Art Club

Guitar Lessons

Learn to play the guitar in 30-minute private lessons on Thursdays at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville. Art with Kreative Kat

Kids, ages 6 to 12, come join the fun creating beautiful art! Everyone can be an artist in this class, as the instructor ‘Kat’ helps students realize their potential.  Kat teaches mainly drawing, watercolor, and acrylics. Wiggles & Giggles

Drop your child off in the gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for our free Wiggles and Giggles supervised play time (ages 3-6 years). Parent must stay in the rec center and use the facility. Wiggles & a Giggles is free with a family pass or general admission. Barre

Barre combines ballet, Pilates and yoga to develop beautifully sculpted lean muscles. Barre uses intense isometric training with low-impact moves that focus on balance, lengthening and strengthening. No dance experience is required.  This 60-minute class is offered at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd., on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 a.m. and Saturdays at 8:05 a.m.  Please register in advance at www.wcparksandrec.com.

 

Piano/Voice Lessons

Weekly, private voice and piano lessons are available on Tuesdays in from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Lessons are offered in 30-minute time frames. Learn note reading skills, music theory and artistic technique using a variety of styles and learning how to sing with correct technique while expanding your range! Ages 7 through adults. Rhythm & Spirit Youth Dance, Cheer & Tumble

Celebrate man’s best friend at the Pooch-a-Palooza dog show and expo. Looking for a pet sitter or vet? Get to know local businesses that care about your pets just as much as you do. Vendors include local vets, groomers, dog boarders, and pet supply shops. Adoptable dogs will also be on site from the Williamson County Animal Control with their mobile adoption center.

Think your dog is the best? Now is your chance to prove it, for only $10 register your k-9 friend for one or more of our competitions which include best dressed best trick, best agility course time and best retriever. All skill levels are welcome to compete in this friendly competition! The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit will also hold a special demonstration you won’t want to miss! This event is FREE for spectators and their pets but registration is required to compete.

 

2017 Hillbilly Half Marathon

Hillbilly Half Marathon Franklin TNThe 2017 Hillbilly Half Marathon, formerly known as the Franklin Half Marathon.

Open to runners and walkers from novice to professional, the Hillbilly Half Marathon and Little Billy 5K celebrates its fifth year in 2017. The USATF certified racecourse is nestled in the pristine backcountry of Williamson County just minutes from downtown Franklin, TN. Over the past five years, the half marathon has attracted up to as many as 1,000 participants each year.

 

2017 Business & Education Expo

The 2017 Business & Education Expo is back by popular demand, featuring the largest showcase of Williamson County businesses and schools.

Presented by Franklin Synergy Bank, the highly-anticipated event takes place Tuesday, June 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Factory at Franklin in Liberty Hall. There are more than 70 companies registered to make an appearance.

Easter Bunny Hops into CoolSprings Galleria 

Enjoy visits, goodies, photos, and a Free Bunny Arrival Party!

Spring has sprung, and the Easter Bunny is headed to CoolSprings Galleria! Beginning Saturday, March 25, kids of all ages are invited to have their photo snapped with the Bunny at CoolSprings Galleria in Center Court.

The Easter Bunny will be available for visits and photos starting Saturday, March 25, through Saturday, April 15, Monday through Sunday, during all mall hours. CoolSprings Galleria is closed on Easter Sunday. All families who visit the Easter Bunny will receive an Easter Bunny coloring sheet.

In addition, CoolSprings Galleria will be hosting a free Easter Bunny Arrival Party on March 25, at 10am to 11:30am in Center Court.  Kids can enjoy face painting, balloon animals, DJ, and the first 100 kids will enjoy cookie decorating with Great American Cookies!

Shoppers are also encouraged to bring in their pets for a photograph with the Easter Bunny on Tuesday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 11, between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.   Please make sure all pets are on a leash or in a carrier.
