The Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County – Dickens of a Christmas

Join us for the largest outdoor Christmas festival in Middle Tennessee!

Step back in time with the Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County when Dickens of a Christmas returns to Franklin’s Main Street December 9-10, 2017.

The 33rd annual free street festival will recreate the time of Charles Dickens using historic downtown Franklin’s Victorian architecture as the backdrop. Some 200 musicians, dancers and characters will fill the streets, including several from Charles Dickens’s stories. Expect to see and interact with the nefarious Fagin from Oliver Twist; Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim Cratchit with his parents from A Christmas Carol; and of course, a Victorian Father and Mother Christmas with treats for children.

As more attention is turned toward downtown Franklin in both the local and national press, we encourage festival goers to dress in Victorian costume and to add to the ambiance as they stroll the streets.

This year’s event will reprise a crowd favorite from last year: it WILL snow at Dickens of a Christmas! Come decked out in holiday style to capture that perfect family picture.

Producing Dickens of a Christmas is just one of the many activities of The Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County. Since 1967 the non-profit group has been dedicated to protecting and preserving Williamson County’s historic, architectural and geographic resources; in short, saving the places that matter.

Bethlehem Players Christmas Carol Franklin TN

Franklin, TN –  Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” is being presented December 1 through 3 by the Bethlehem Players, Bethlehem United Methodist Church community theatre troupe, in the Grassland area of Franklin, 2419 Bethlehem Loop Road, Franklin, TN (37069).

Written by Joe Landry and directed locally by Johnny Peppers, the stage production is inspired by the classic American Charles Dickens novella “A Christmas Carol” and is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience.

“After staging the hugely popular “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play,” we are thrilled to be returning for this seasonal fun,” Peppers said. “It is also the first time the Bethlehem Players are on stage after the loss of one of our beloved cast mates and church member, Robbin Holland. We’re honoring her by designating Miriam’s Promise as the benefiting charity for all three performances. Robbin was a long-time advocate for the nonprofit organization as well as for children in the Grassland community and Nashville area.”

The large cast for the talented production includes four area radio veterans: Pat Reilly as Ebenezer Scrooge, Mark McNulty as Bob Cratchit, Brian Zimmerman as Scrooge’s nephew, and Harry Robinson as Jacob Marley. The other cast members include: Jim Allen, Art Ankrum, Sharon Brugman, Steve Brugman, Lori Heatherington, Stephanie Jackson, Allison Maddock, Jim Melrose, Debbie Robinson, Janie Varn, David Varn, Ginny Welles, and production musical director Kandace Peppers.

During intermission of each performance, Santa Claus will be on hand to visit and take pictures with children in the audience.

“A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” is presented December 1 and 2 at 7:00 p.m. and December 3 at 2:00 p.m. With limited seating, $10 per person general admission tickets are available via TicketsNashville.comor by calling the Bethlehem Ticket line at 615-669-BPAC (2722).

Aware Worship Night Franklin Theatre

Aware Worship – The Franklin Theatre

Aware Worship: This one day event is focused on recognizing God’s presence and His people through racial equality and inclusion.

God’s people are often quick to seek connection with him while forgetting to recognize the lives of the people around them. On a national stage, America is rapidly dividing along racial lines with no reconciliation in sight. Aware exists to eliminate segregation in the church and bridge the gap between God and his people through the powerful vehicle of music. Composing a musical environment of unity and diversity that mirrors the perfect worship experience of heaven, the Aware events develop a community of believers that become an incarnation of God’s kingdom on the earth today.

About Show Up Foundation:

The Show Up Foundation is a 501c3 that bravely creates solution-oriented programming/events for culturally diverse audiences that desire greater equality and inclusion. Through the provision of educational programming, multimedia social content across various platforms, and financial support, we offer tangible solutions for racial equality, personal growth, faith-based leadership development, and missions.
