Gypsy

Presented by The Tennessean Williamson
Music by Jule Styne, Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Arthur Laurents

Sept. 17 – Oct. 4, 2015  at Jamison Hall – The Factory at Franklin, Franklin TN

A long-time short-list production for Studio Tenn, “Gypsy” is widely exalted as the Greatest American Book Musical, integrating a rich, compelling story and complex characters into its Broadway songbook standards such as “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “Together (Wherever We Go).”

Bombastic and overbearing stage mother Rose is desperate to catapult her children to stardom during Vaudeville’s heyday. When her younger daughter June flees the family and The Circuit, quiet, sidelined Louise steps into the limelight. With Vaudeville waning, mother and daughter find themselves on an unexpected path to fame.

Studio Tenn is going all out in this bold, dynamic production–nothing short of the royal treatment “Gypsy” deserves.

Grape Stomp Festival 2015 Franklin TN

A Vintage Affair hosts 6th Annual Grape Stomp Festival

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The 6th annual Grape Stomp Festival will be held on Sat., Oct. 3rd from 3-6 p.m., at O’More College of Design.

Whether your notion of grape stomping conjures up romantic images of Keanu Reeves and his love interest in the 1995 film A Walk in the Clouds, or of the iconic scene from the famous I Love Lucy “Grape Stomping” episode, those bold enough to brave the messiness are invited to experience traditional wine making as they stomp barefoot in competition against others in a tournament bracket-style competition.

The teams to collect the most juice at the end of a four-minute stomp will advance to the finals, where the top three teams will compete to be the Grape Stomp champion. Members of the winning team will receive a half of a case of wine as reward for their stomping talent. The stomp will be hosted by Buzz Brainard of The Highway SiriusXM Channel 59 and Radio Disney. Buzz is sure to add his own flare to the event.

T-shirts or creative costumes are strongly encouraged, and there will be awards for best costumes throughout the event. The cost to sponsor a team of five is $500 and up to 30 teams will be assembled. Those wishing to enjoy the event from the sidelines may purchase general admission tickets for $50.

Wine and food will be plentiful. To date participating restaurants and wineries include: Papa Boudreaux’s, Taziki’s of Downtown Franklin, Moonshine Caterers, Gina’s Stone-fired Pizza and Chuy’s, and wine from Robledo Family Winery from Sonoma, CA,. Winemakers from each of these wineries will be in town to pour many varietals of their award winning wines. Four Roses Bourbon and Ole Smoky Moonshine will all be on hand for tastings and signature cocktails.

Visit AVA’s website at www.avintageaffair.org for more details and to purchase tickets. For more information on registering your grape stomping team please contact Ashley W. Roberts at 615.351-8165.
